How the Seal Works

After your Unit Specialist completes the walkthrough and photography, they secure the unit with your lock and apply a TightBid security band with a unique printed ID and barcode. The band is scanned into our system, linking it directly to the auction listing.

When the winning bidder arrives, they cut the seal themselves. An intact seal means the unit hasn't been accessed since the photos were taken — a guarantee buyers can see with their own eyes before they pay.

Buyer disputes happen. "The unit looked different when I got there." With a TightBid security seal, the answer is simple: if the seal is intact, the contents are exactly what the photos show.

Common Operator Questions

TightBid charges buyers a small premium of 9% (minimum $10) on the winning bid for standard bidders, and a reduced rate for TightBid subscribers. Operators pay nothing. This keeps incentives aligned: we make money only when your auctions sell, not by taking a cut of your recovery.

There is no fee for cancellations before the auction goes live, only once it has opened. We recommend structuring your late fees with tenatns to cover this cost.

Relist it for free. No penalty, no fee. Units don't always sell on the first attempt and TightBid won't punish you for it. No bids are usually caused by poor or not enough photos. Snap a few more, add a little more detail to the listing and repost at no charge.

A TightBid Unit Specialist comes to your facility, takes high quality photos, applies your in-house lock, affixes a TightBid tamper-evident security seal to the door, builds a detailed listing for each unit, then publishes to the TightBid auction site. The flat rate fee of $50 per unit covers it all. For Managed Services there is a minimum of 5 units per visit ($250). You do nothing except let us in.

Yes. There's no commitment to either option. Some operators handle their own listings most of the time, and only bring in a Unit Specialist during busy months or for large batches. Do what works best for your operation.

Integrations with major property management platforms are on our roadmap. In the meantime, our operator dashboard is straightforward enough to use standalone. Since our system provides detailed AI analysis of your listing's photos, building a post is fast and easy. Contact us if you have specific integration needs and we'll work with you directly.

When the auction closes, the winning bidder receives a notification with your facility's contact information, and the cleaning timeline you set. They contact you directly (through our system, phone, in-person, or email) and arrange payment per your policies (cash, card, etc.). You set your cleaning deposit requirements and the user cleans out the unit.
